By Matt Russell, Post-Bulletin, Apr 10, 2009

Rochester, MN (USA) -- The Buddhist temple in southeast Rochester will host a celebration of the Cambodian New Year on Saturday.

The event includes traditional games, children's activities and traditional dance and music performances.

A Buddhist ceremony will run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and other activities will start around 1 p.m., according to community member Tracy Sam.

The REACHASEY Band, a local group that plays Cambodian pop music, will perform from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

The celebration, which marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox, is one of the biggest events in Cambodian culture.

The Buddhist Support Society Temple is at 4462 29th St. S.E.
