On the late Ven Dr. Puhulwelle Vipassi

by Sumanananda Premaseri, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, The Buddhist Channel, Nov 9, 2006

It is with deep sadness I learnt the news of the demise of Ven Dr. Puhulwelle Vipassi from the Buddhist Channel.

The Venerable was the first Buddhist resident monk in the African continent in the 1980s and stayed for about two years at the Dar Es Salaam Buddhist temple in Tanzania before he set forth to serve the first Theravada Buddhist temple in South America at Rio de Janerio, Brazil.

May the Venerable's journey in Samsara be a short one. May he attain the final bliss of Nibbana.
