Buddha Mela at B Konda

Newindpress, January 17 2007

VISAKHAPATNAM, India -- Buddha Mela was conducted with grandeur at the ancient Buddhist pilgrim centre in Bojjanna Konda near Anakapalle today. Buddhists performed prayers in the cave.

Preacher Pudi Ganga Raju unveiled the Buddhist flag and distributed pamphlets explaining the history of Anakapalle Buddhist hill. The programme was organised by the district general secretary of Maha Bodhi Society, Bora Venugopal Gowtam.

On the occasion, Gowtam demanded that the name of Bojjanna Konda should be changed as ‘Buddhuni Konda’. He appealed to the government to protect the ancient Buddhist pilgrim centres and make them as Buddhist temples.
