Dalai Lama has medical tests for arm discomfort

AP, February 2 2009

NEW DELHI, India -- The Dalai Lama has been taken to a New Delhi hospital for medical tests after experiencing discomfort in his arms.

The Tibetan spiritual leader's spokesman, Tenzin Takhla, said Monday he is currently undergoing the tests.

The 73-year-old Buddhist leader underwent surgery in October to remove gallstones and had to cancel several international trips.

Takhla says he is expected to return to Dharmsala, where he has his headquarters, on Tuesday.
