New Sangha Nayake for Singapore receives Aktapatra

Colombo, Sri Lanka -- The Act of Appointment (Aktapatra) for the newly-appointed Chief Sangha Nayake of Singapore, Ven. Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayake Thera will be delivered at the Kotte Rajamaha Vihara tomorrow at 2.30 p.m.

Ven. Dhammaratana, the religious adviser, Buddhist Research Society and Buddhist Library for more than 25 years, is also the Viharadhipathi at Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya.

Ven. Dhammaratana as a missionary monk has travelled widely in the South Asian region and held a number of Buddhist lectures, retreats and discussions. He is also the founder of the Kadugannawa Paramitha International Buddhist Centre, providing a range of Buddhist services.

The Most Ven. Bellana Sri Gnanawimala Maha Nayake Thera, Kotte Sri Kalyani Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha will present the act of appointment to the new Sangha Nayake of Singapore at the ceremony attended by Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara and Power and Energy Minister Susil Prema Jayantha.

Upon his return to Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihara after his new appointment is received, Ven. Dhammaratana Thera will be accorded a welcome ceremony the same day at the Bellanwila Vihara premises.

This ceremony will be graced by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, Minister Dinesh Goonawardene, UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasooriya and a host of guests.
