Thai and Myanmar people perform Vesak activity in Tak

TAK,  Thailand --  A large number of Thai and Myanmar people performed a religious activity together on the occasion of Vesak Day.

Tak Governor Charoenrit Sanguansat and Myawaddy governor Lwin Ko Oo jointly led almsgiving for Thai and Myanmar Buddhist monks at the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge. More than 1,000 Thai and Myanmar citizens took part in the activity.

Tak and Myawaddy co-organize an almsgiving ceremony every year on Vesak Day. The activity is aimed at commemorate the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha as well as forging ties between Thai and Myanmar people.

The two cities have also planned to observe Lord Buddha’s Cremation Day in late May.
