Local cultural authorities have counted more than 300 steles and tablets. All are covered with inscriptions in worship of the Buddha. Preliminary research shows that most of the relics were created over a period of three centuries ending in the early 20th century.
All of the pieces were works commissioned by pilgrims on their way to the renowned Buddhist temple in the mountains. Researchers expect to discover more information about local history and economic development from the discoveries.
