Santoshi is doing a lot of research about the life of King Ashoka who became an emperor and ultimately a messenger of Buddhism.
He insists that his Ashoka will be different from Santosh sivan's movie “Ashoka”. Incidently, Shah Rukh Khan's version of “Ashoka” failed miserably at the Box office. But Santoshi seemed to be hopeful that his version will draw attention from the viewers.
Son of ace fight-master Veeru Devgan, Ajay was exposed to films at a very early age.
He accompanied his father on several occasions to film set-ups and shooting schedules.
At his age, he must have been impressed by the stunts his father directed. So, when he grew up and entered films, Ajay did some hair-raising stunts in his films.
Being the son of a fight master and fond of performing stunts, Devgan's earlier films were more of the violent nature. The trend in his career changed with Ishq, a soft romantic comedy where he was paired opposite Kajol.
Soon, Ajay's potential as a romantic hero capable of delivering emotional performances was discovered and the actor did not mind the change. After a couple of films came Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Ajay became hot property.
