With rapidly growing interest amongst the Tibetans in filmmaking, this initial workshop is designed to help them in scriptwriting skills, from the original idea to writing short films to developing feature-length film scripts.

Lobsang Jeshong, the Secretary for Department of Information & International Relations (DIIR), welcomed the seminar and said, “It is an excellent idea and the subject of workshop is very good and beneficial in the sense that script, story writing and film treatments are new to many Tibetan filmmakers. I am sure that this will help them a lot in their future ventures.”

The intensive nine-day course will explore essential elements of the scriptwriting process including finding your story; discovering and developing dimensional characters; dialogue; structure; goal and motivation and examples from different films.

This first scriptwriting seminar is organised by London based Tibetan filmmaker Sam Wangyal of Wild Nomads for the Himalayan Film School in association with the Tibetan Government in Exile’s Department of Information and International Relations.
