The common goal for Buddhism and science is Truth

by John Beaudry, Seoul, Korea, Aug 4, 2005

I write with regards to the article, "Plan for Dalai Lama Lecture Angers Neuroscientists." Closing the mind to possibility is not helpful to scientists or buddhists. Both pursue truth through experiment, scientists in the lab and buddhists in the mind.

Dr Gu says, "People believe what they believe but I think it will just confuse things."

But Buddhism is not a system of belief; rather it is based on "direct experience." Buddha said "come and see," not "come and believe."

The point for both Science and Buddhism is find the truth - whatever it turns out to be.

To decide ahead of finding "Truth" what limits it places on access to it, is to "believe" in your own personal judgment about its nature.
