Maintain the sanctity of the Bodhi Tree

by Roger, London, UK, The Buddhist Channel, April 6, 2006

With regards to the issue of holding a concert near the site of the holy Bodhi Tree, I totally agree with Vishaka Kawasaki.

The din and loud music with people partying and possibly taking alcohol and drugs will defile the holy sanctity of the Mahabodhi temple place.

Nearby pilgrims who may have come to visit from afar such as China and other parts of Asia and the world will be disturbed in their prayers and meditation.

There are other places to hold such events. This is not one of them.
