Buddhism has no texts?

by Dion Peoples, Bangkok, Thailand, The Buddhist Channel, Nov 30, 2008

I refer to the article 'Buddhism has to evolve to remain socially relevant in Asia'.

The article is quoted as saying: "Buddhism has no texts"? Interesting... then what is the Tipitaka? Please ensure accuracy before posting an article - or you misrepresent Buddhism.

Editor's note: We managed to contact the speaker Mr Lokesh Chandra. Apparently what he meant was that originally the Buddha's words were orally transmitted. Therefore, historically speaking the early Buddha-Dharma were not "text based". We hope this clears the misconception.
