The other side of Bhutan

by Suzanne Townsend, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, The Buddhist Channel, Nov 9, 2006

I just found your article "Interview with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche", Kuensel Online, August 16, 2005" and have to raise the point that Shambhala should be ashamed of its leader promoting the Bhutan government, since that government is actively engaged in ethnic cleansing of its non-Buddhist citizens, and over 100,000 refugees have been living in camps for nearly 15 years as a result.

How this country can call itself "Buddhist" or even "sane" is beyond me.

How Shambhala International can also do so is enough to make me leave that organization. Please post this so readers are aware of the other side of this marketing of Buddhism!
