Manuscripts are from Gandhara, not Palestine

by Dr Mark Allon, Sydney, Australia, The Buddhist Channel, May 1, 2009

I would like to correct some statements found in Dr.T.Jayasinghe's article on Buddhism in Palestine in which he states that "Dr. Mark Allon of Australia had done extensive research on Dead Sea scrolls found in the Dead Sea area of Palestine around Jerico." etc. etc.

The Buddhist manuscripts that my colleagues and I are working on come from Gandhara (Pakistan & Afghanistan) not Palestine. They have merely been likened to the Dead Sea scrolls, but even here there are limitations in the comparison.
