Kathina ceremony at Wat Phra Singh attracts guests including ambassador for Laos
Liverpool, UK -- An international VIP was among the guest for a celebration of one of the biggest dates in the Buddhist calendar in Runcorn.
<< Monks take part in a Kathina blessing and service at Wat Phra Singh in Runcorn in what could have been the first of its kind in the UK.
Wat Phra Singh temple on High Street welcomed Laos’s ambassador to the UK and 500 other visitors for the day of Kathina ceremonies and activities, which included dishing out free food for everyone.
Temple volunteer Jenny Stubbs said it followed other major ceremonies at the temple to draw Buddhists from far and wide to Runcorn including Buddha Bhisek.
Reflecting on Kathina, Jenny said: “Everyone was very complimentary on how well the event was organised.
“As always the temple was able to offer free food to all our visitors as we seek to reciprocate your generosity.
“All in all, a wonderfully successful day was enjoyed by all who attended.”
