Tibetan singer Dolkar Lhamo and the Samye Ling Scottish Pipers were performing at Golden on the High Street ahead of a book-signing and talk on Samye Ling at 12pm.

Lama Yeshe Rinpoche, the abbot of Samye Ling in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, was to answer questions about the centre along with the book's author Rinchen Khandro.

All proceeds from sales of "Kagyu Samye Ling" will go towards building an educational wing for the centre with a college, libraries, museum and study facilities.

Rinchen Khandro, a nun who lives at Samye Ling, said: "Samye Ling has grown into a cross-cultural centre with a merging of Tibetan and Scottish influences. It's unique in the western world and is something Scotland should know about and be proud of."

Thom McCarthy, who owns Golden, lived for more than a decade at Samye Ling. He said: "Samye Ling was a ground-breaking temple built by volunteers. It now has more than 100 residents and people go there to study from all over the world."
