Tibetan lama to share Buddhist wisdom in Cotswolds

Cotswold Journal, May 16, 2009

Cotswold, UK -- ONE of the most important Tibetan Buddhist lamas still alive today will be travelling thousands of miles across the globe to visit the Cotswolds in June His Eminence the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Losel Wangpo, is one of the highest lamas in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and as a young boy his education was supervised by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

He is coming to Gretton as part of a week-long residential teaching retreat which will form the final event of a European-wide tour that has seen Dzogchen Rinpoche putting his Buddhist wisdom to use on many issues including the current financial crisis.

He said: “Economics is not based in luck. Economic success is due to a collection of conditions.

“The motivation and quality of the business person needs to improve because gain and loss are very much related with karma and merit.

“Relying solely on intelligence and mathematics is not a guaranteed method to make gains in business. There should be a good business plan, which operates positively from a karmic point of view and benefits the whole society.”

The retreat, will be held at Middle Stanley Farm, Gretton, from June 28 - July 2 and features a number of other ancient wisdom teachings, many of which are rarely taught in the west.

The UK leg of the European tour is organised by SHENPEN UK, a branch of the Indian registered charity Dzogchen Shri Senha Charitable Society (DSSCS).
