Buddhist grant for summer fair is refused

Lancashire Evening Telegraph, June 2, 2006

Todmorden, UK -- The Buddhist group who live in the Losang Dragpa Centre, known as Dobroyd Castle, in Todmorden, have asked for help in funding their annual summer fair.

But Councillor Margaret Holmstead told the town council amenities committee that at last year's event a £5 charge was made, bringing in excess of £8,000, and the event did not need the council's support.

The meeting turned down the application for a £1,500 grant.
