Nepal sets budget for World Buddhist Summit

KATHMANDU, Nepal -- Nepal has set a budget of 13 million Nepali rupees (about 180,000 US dollars) for the Second World Buddhist Summit slated for Nov. 30 - Dec. 2, organizers said here Friday.

More than 320 foreign guests from 40 countries will participatein the event to be held in Lumbini of Nepal, the Lumbini Development Trust, the organizer of the summit said in a press release.

The Second World Buddhist Summit will feature three working papers on the themes of "Indispensability of Peace in the Present World Context", "Lumbini's Development and International Cooperation" and "Developing Lumbini as a World Peace City," the press release said.

The Lumbini Development Trust has also invited Buddhist leaders from Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and India, it said.
