'Buddhism helps to end conflicts'

KATHMANDU, Nepal -- Participants of an interaction programme on 'Contribution of Buddhist Philosophy for World Peace' have discussed on the contribution of Buddhist Philosophy and the notion of peace propagated by Lord Gautam Buddha on world peace and economic prosperity.

The interaction programme was jointly organised by the Society for Buddhist Studies, Nepal and the Buddhist Economy Forum, Japan to mark the golden jubilee occasion of the diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Japan here today.

Speaking at the programme, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka stressed on the need of Buddha's philosophy to put an end to conflict and bloodshed the world is witnessing at the moment.

Similarly, Japanese Professor Kajuo Yasuhara, Prof. Seigo Chugi and Prof. Tri Ratna Manandhar of the Tribhuvan University also expressed their views while Prof. Naresh Man Bajracharya presented a working paper on Buddhist Philosophy on world peace and law at the programme.

President of Society for Buddhist Studies, Nepal Gautam Bir Bajracharya and President of Buddhist Economic Forum, Japan Hideaki Terasita underlined the significance of Buddhist philosophy and relations between Nepal and Japan.
