RBWA is a leading social organization for Rakhine people in Bangladesh and it is comprised of twenty-one local branches that operate in areas with Rakhine populations.
A seventeen-member central committee was formed with elected members during the convention. U Kyaw Thein (U Rhee) was re-elected as president while U Maung Thein Hla was elected as the general secretary of the organization, according to participants.
RBWA is an officially registered organization striving for the development of education, socio-culture, and religion of Rakhine communities in Bangladesh.
The organization was established in 1989 and at the latest convention they vowed to extend their activities into housing plans and micro-credit for poor Rakhine people.
