Patna, India -- Now, there is no need for Patnaites to visit Bodh Gaya or any other place to learn Vipassana, a meditation technique. A permanent Vipassana training centre would come up at Buddha Smriti Park here by the end of August this year where one can learn the art of meditation free of cost.
Announcing this on Thursday, Shyamsundar Taparia, a Vipassana trainer who is associated with Igatpuri Research Institute, said the participants need not pay anything as Vipassana is not a commercial venture. He added that a Vipassana camp would be organised at the park on the occasion of Buddha Purnima on Saturday. "CM Nitish Kumar and students from different schools would attend the camp," Taparia said.
"Vipassana is a scientific way to control and purify the mind. It helps one get a feel of what is going on inside the mind," Taparia said., adding that 70 people can participate in the camp at a time by getting themselves registered.
Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited managing director A P Singh said selection of participants would be done on first come, first served basis and those who miss the first chance would be accommodated in the next camp. "The registration forms will be made available at the Buddha Smriti Park from July. A website is also under construction for this purpose," Singh said.
Buddha Smriti Park administrative head Md Ayaz Ahmed said people staying in the camp would be provided free accommodation and food. "Each person would be given one cabin (air conditioned) with attached toilet. There will be separate accommodation facility for men and women. The participants will also be provided with free laundry facility," Ayaz said.
