The Bhikkhu Training Centre, land for which has already been acquired, would train monks from across the world and send them as propagators of the message of Buddhism to all parts of the globe, President of Maha Bodhi Society of India Dr Bhupendra Modi told a press meet on Saturday.

The Buddhist spiritual leader is also scheduled to attend seminars on contribution of foreign Buddhist monasteries in spreading Buddhism in India and the role of Anagarika Dharmapala in revival of Buddhism in South-East Asia as part of the year-long celebrations beginning in Kolkata on January seven, 2006.

"The celebrations would be inaugurated either by the President or the Vice-President of the country here. The three day inaugural programme in Kolkata will include an international conference on humanism and unveiling of a book on 2550 years of Buddhism in India," Modi said.

The inaugural function will be attended by the chief dharma leader of the order Satyanarayan Goenka. A global conference on peace to be presented in six languages simultaneously will be inaugurated by the President or Prime Minister of the country in New Delhi on April eight with over 200 Japanese Buddhist preachers attending it.

The Delhi function would hold an all-religion prayer at Buddha Jayanti Park and an exhibition on 'Gautama Buddha's path' in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India.

There would be a seminar on unknown Buddhist places in Nepal in Lumbini next April, meditation camps in Shravasti in September, seminar on the history of Buddhism in Kalinga in Bhubaneswar in October and an exposition of relics of Buddha and his disciples Sariputta and Moggallana in Sarnath in November.

The year-long ceremony would close in Kolkata with the foundation stome laying ceremony of an All Religion Study Centre with special emphasis on Buddhism, Modi said.
