Thai Princess visits historic sites in India

Newind Press, November 22 2005

BHUBANESWAR, India -- On her third and last day of stay in the State, Thai princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Ratnagiri Buddhist site in Jajpur district.

On her return to the State Capital, she visited the Hatigumpha Jain caves at Khandagiri-Udaygiri hills here. Later the princess had a view of the Lingaraj Temple from the watchtower built near the northern door of the temple complex to enable foreigners and non-Hindus to watch the architectural marvel.

A cactus was named after the princess as a tribute during her tour of the Regional Plant Resource Centre here.

She also visited the State Museum where she offered prayers to the Buddha relics caskets that were recovered from Lalitgiri.
