The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has drawn up the blueprint of the proposal and sent it to the state government for approval.

The air taxi proposal is aimed at providing a safe and hassle-free tourism package to foreign tourists, facing problems due to bad roads in the state and lack of international level facilities.

"The air taxi service will be a special tourism package to attract foreign as well as domestic tourists," a senior tourism official said.

"Under the package, tourists will be able to visit important Buddhist circuit shrines, including Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, Sarnath and Kushinagar by chopper in three days only," he said.

The service will be introduced after an agreement with private tourist operators. "A few private tourism operators have shown interest in the service."

Tourist operators have been demanding the air taxi service for several years, but it did not materialise due to delay by the state government.
