Dalai Lama on five-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

Varanasi, India -- Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama arrived on a five-day visit here to participate in various programmes at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies at Sarnath scheduled from Tuesday.

He would participate in a dialogue on the Indian philosophical traditions in the institute followed by his keynote address at a seminar on the Tibetan buddhist philosophical schools on February eight, official sources said.

The Tibetan spiritual leader would interact with students and teachers of the institute on February nine and inaugurate an international conference on 'Buddhism in Asia: Challenge and Prospects' on February 10, they said.

The Dalai Lama would leave for Gaya in Bihar on February 11 to participate in various programmes to mark the 2550th anniversary of Gautam Buddha, they said adding tight security arrangements had been made in Sarnath in view of his visit.
