In his discourse to Tibetan students, the Dalai Lama explained how the origins of Tibetan civilization started.
He appealed to the youth to study Buddhism and practice peace, love and compassion to make them good human beings.
"This will help a person to have more peace and harmony. It will also help him or her to become a more relaxed person," said Dawa Tsering, one of the organisers of the discourse.
A number of foreigners also attended the discourse.
"He is a role model for everybody, not just for Westerners, but also for Tibetans, for everybody in the world," said Shanyata, an Israeli tourist.
The Buddhist spiritual leader has been living in Dharamsala since 1959, nine years after China occupied Tibet.
