Buddhist Monks seek Indian intervention in Myanmar

Nagpur, India -- An organisation of Buddhists monks has sought India's intervention into the crackdown on civilians and monks in Myanmar by the military regime.

All India Dhamma Army (AIDA) commander Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surai Sesai in a memorandum to secretary general United Nations, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has sought their intervention to stop the crackdown.

He has also condemned use of force on pro-democracy activists and monks by Myanmar's junta.

Sesai, accompanied by a group of Buddhists monks in city, submitted the memorandum through the district collector, Nagpur, a release from Dhamma Army said today.
