ADB-supported programme for reviving Buddhist tourism

New Delhi, India -- Union Tourism Secretary Uma Pillai today launched an Asian Development Bank supported programme for reviving Buddhist cultural tourism in south Asia, including India.

The programme - Buddhist Heartland and Nature Culture Adventure - has been developed as part of ADB's South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Tourism Initiative, with joint input from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.

A series of marketing collaterals, including posters, promotional literature and online web portal have been developed to promote Buddhist tourism Circuit and eco tourism in the sub region.

The launch marks the end of ADB-UNESCO round table on sustainable development of cultural heritage and cultural tourism in South Asia.
