Tibetans in Shimla pray for Dalai Lama’s health

Shimla, India -- Tibetan exiles in Shimla offered prayers for the long life of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, today.

The monks said that September 10 is the 10th day of seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, an auspicious day for them. “Today, we are offering special prayers for his holiness’ long life because his holiness is not in good health for the last few weeks,” said Yonten a Tibetan Buddhist monk.

Similar prayer were held in Dharamshala, the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile.Thousands of Bhuddhist monks and nuns prayed for the well being of Dalai Lama.

The 73-year-old Dalai Lama was admitted to a Mumbai hospital with “abdominal discomfort”. He had to cancell two foreign trips because of his ailment.

In recent years, doctors have increased medical checks to ensure that the Dalai Lama remains in good health. The Nobel Peace Prize winner returned to Dharamsala on August 24 after a visit to France to give lectures on Buddhism criticise Chinese policies on Tibet.
