Addressing the gathering, the Dalai Lama said, "I am here for you people. Those who lost their dear ones in the floods should not feel pain as the devastation was not only confined to Leh. Devastating natural disaters also occurred in neighbouring Pakistan and China."
Noting that nature's fury was collective result of human sins, he laid emphasis on the need for inner purification, communal harmony and peace and asked people to recite the Buddhist Manay (Buddhist religious mantras) at least one to six lakh times a day.
He was delivering his address in the Tibetan language which was being translated into the local Ladakhi dialect for the convenience of the gathering.
From Choglamsar the Dalai Lama went to the main Buddhist monastery at Chokang and addressed the flood victims asking them to lead a morally pure and spiritually exalted life.
His Holiness attended a huge gathering at Lamdom ground, where lakhs of people gathered to seek his blessings. He delivered a sermon there before concluding with special prayers for the peace of those killed in the floods.
