People must be compassionate towards all: Dalai Lama

TNN, Jan 12, 2011

VARANASI, India -- Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, said that all living beings in the world feel pain and sorrow, but only humans can feel the pain and sorrow of others.

Addressing the Buddhist monks and followers on Wednesday at the Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS), Sarnath, he said that one could achieve 'bodhi' by removing the sorrow of others. People should be compassionate towards all, he said.

"Among all living beings, humans have wisdom, hence they should apply their wisdom purposefully and in the right direction," he said.

Later, the prime minister of the Tibetan government in exile, S Rinpoche, inaugurated the newly built academic building of the CUTS on the occasion.
