The brainchild of this charity programme is Ven. B. Saranankara Thera the Chief High Priest of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. With the help of the above-mentioned charity organizations, he has been able to get medicines, vitamins, medical equipment, school bags, school shoes, school uniforms, and Sinhala to English dictionaries from generous donors in Malaysia and devotees of the Sri Lanka Buddhist temple to be distributed to the poor and needy in Sri Lanka.

The Siri Jayanti Association is building a Free Clinic at the Hanguranketa town center and this clinic is expected to be ready before the opening on December 12. About sixty volunteers and two doctors from Kuala Lumpur will participate in this programme and they will be assisted by about thirty doctors and numerous nurses and volunteers from Sri Lanka. The Buddhist Cultural Centre, the Naga Vihara Buddhist Temple and the Madanwala Rajamaha Viharaya in Hanguranketa will be the coordinating bodies of this programme.

During the Medical Camp, it is expected to carry out checks on common illnesses, general medical examinations like diabetic tests, tooth and eye tests on men, women and children. At the same time and place, distribution of school bags, shoes and uniforms to about 2000 children in that area will be done.

A Maha Sanghika dana for about 700 monks will be held and each monk will be receiving a Sinhala to English dictionary, 5000 food packets will be distributed to the volunteers and villagers during the camp. On the same day, an opening ceremony of the Free Clinic built and fully sponsored by the Maha Karuna Buddhist Society of Kuala Lumpur and fully equipped with the latest medical equipment and drugs will be held.

It is expected that this free clinic will cater to the medical needs of the villagers in Hanguranketa and arrangements will be made so that voluntary doctors from that area will operate the free clinic in future.

All these charity programmes are coordinated by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
