ICRO of Iran is the apex State sponsored body that overlooks the promotion of cultural relations and religious dialogues between countries and cultures. On Wednesday, the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Iran M.M. Zuhair signed a MoU with ICRO Vice President for Research and Education Dr. S.M.J. Vazirufard to facilitate the visit. The First Secretary of the Mission B. Vidyarathna participated in the event.

The MoU provides for closer cooperation between the two countries in promoting good relations, exchange of academic information, research to hold educational workshops and to present religious and cultural lectures and seminars.

During the visit the Buddhist monks would speak on the several aspects of Buddhist history, development of religious ethics in Buddhism, the role of Buddhist religious leaders in confronting violence in Sri Lanka, history of cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Iran, common ideas for World Peace and Justice in the new era, the role of the monk in building peace amongst minorities, the constitutional rights of all religious groups and the role of the places of religious worship in Sri Lanka.
