Asgiri Maha Nayaka Thero asks monks to respect law and order

Colombo, Sri Lanka -- The Chief Monk (Maha Nayaka) of Asgiriya Chapter, Ven. Udugama Buddharakkitha Thero has recently stated that nobody should be above the law and order including the Buddhist monks.
Maha Nayaka Thero commenting on the recent incident which took place at the Supreme Courts of Sri Lanka, said that all civilians including the clergy of all religions as well as the citizens should respect the law of the country and the traditions.
“The Buddhist monk should have acted in a sensible manner at the Supreme Court, respecting the law and tradition avoiding a humiliation as such. Regardless it is the Court or the Parliament, the tradition and the system has to be fall in line with,” stated the Maha Nayake Thero.
Supreme Court recently remanded Ven. Pannala Gnanaloka Thero of Welikadawaththa Buddhist temple for 14 days until September 15 for failure to appear in Courts for the hearing of fundamental rights violation case pertaining to noise pollution.
