Chinese Buddhist nun robbed

Colombo, Sri Lanka -- A Chinese Buddhist nun studying at the Sri Jayewardenapura University has been robbed of valuables to  the value of around Rs.350, 000, Dehiwala police said.

She had been residing in Alubogahawatte off Anderson Road in Nedimala, Dehiwala. She arrived in Sri Lanka around nine months ago and is reading for a Degree in Buddhism.

She was expecting to teach Buddhism in English to Sri Lankans once the Degree is obtained, police said. Yesterday, when she was not at her residence, some thieves had entered through a window and removed a laptop computer, a camera and two mobile phones.

The theft is being investigated by OIC Ranjith Kottahachchi, and a team of officers from Dehiwala Police.
