Bank of Ceylon donates US$ 23,300 for International Buddhist Conference

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka -- The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) donated Rs. 10 million (US$ 23,300) for the purpose of hosting the International Buddhist Conference. President Mahinda Rajapaksa received the relevant cheque from representatives of the Bank of Ceylon at Temple Trees yesterday.

The BoC also sold a ‘Hanikata Dinuma’ savings certificate to the President which was newly introduced by the bank for the festive season.

The savings certificates come with a value of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 10,000, Rs. 25,000, Rs. 50,000 and Rs, 100,000 and it receives a nine per cent annual interest.

In addition, every customer who gets a savings certificate will have a chance of winning valuable prices such as motor cars, hi-fi set-ups, mobile phones and much more.

With the successful introduction of this savings certificate, the BoC has aimed at cultivating the savings habit in Sri Lankan citizens.
