The announcement was made by Petroleum Resources Minister Duminda Dissanayake who is also the SLFP Chief Organiser for Mihintale electorate told the Mihintale Poson Festival Steering Committee.

He said advertisements only on Buddhism will be allowed.

The Minister chairing the committee meeting at the Mihintale Government Circuit Bungalow auditorium, said such restrictions were needed as in the previous festive seasons, most commercial institutions conducted publicity 'campaigns'.
