Separate rooms for Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka courts

Colombo, Sri Lanka -- Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Suhada Gamlath to allocate a separate room in every court for the Buddhist monks who attend court hearings.

The President has instructed to facilitate these rooms with television sets so that the waiting Buddhist monks can view the court proceedings.

The President focused his attention on the recent issue of remanding a Buddhist monk over a noise pollution case.

Around 100 or so Buddhist monks at the courts on the day a bail application of the monk was considered, stay seated disrespecting the court.
