On global recession, he said, ''Ecological imbalance, global warming, ignorance and speculations are the main causes for the recession.'' Stating that Buddhism was not against science, he said, ''Modern science is part of Buddhism as Buddhism advocates three elements- science, philosophy and religion.'' Making it clear that he would not say that Buddhism is the best in all religions, he said, ''Various religions have their noble thoughts, concepts and traditions.''
''Converting religion is difficult in many aspects. I suggest better to be adhered to one's own religion. But what I want to say is that study the concept of Buddhism and preaches of Gautam Buddha,'' he said, adding Buddhism was based on the concept of humanism.
The Dalai Lama, who was here to deliver spiritual discourses on the occasion of the first anniversary of 'Budha Vihar', urged Union Labour and Employment Minister M Mallikharjun Kharge to construct a study and learning centre of Buddhism.
