June 23, two days after Typhoon Frank hit the Philippines, Tzu Chi volunteers immediately headed their way to Dreamland, Rosario, Cavite to extend help through a relief operation activity to the families affected by flood. 273 families received relief goods such as boxes of powdered milk, oats and clothes.
Dreamland village is a coastal community used to regularly suffer flood when a typhoon strikes.Tzu chi paid first visit the village when it flooded caused typhoon struck in last August. Since then, Tzu Chi volunteers regularly conduct relief operation activities and medical mission to Dreamland.
Most villagers stayed in the evacuation area when the Typhoon Fengshen hit the area. The flood was above knee level and had reached their floor where they usually sleep. Relief goods were given to affected families with the hope of alleviating the situation of victims who are in evacuation centers and in shelters of relatives and friends.
Typhoon Frank caused a vast destruction in Dreamland but its residents again witnessed the rays of the sun through the selfless love and quick response of the volunteers who stood by their side in their time of need.
Tzu Chi immediately responds to the emergency caused by Typhoon Fengshen. Victims receive the warm care by the aid distribution. Furthermore, Tzu Chi plans to give more help to those areas affected by the storm. Members of Tzu Chi relief team went to the hard-hit area to survey the situation that could offer the service of victim most need.
