TibetanReview.net, Mar 04, 2009

Taipei, Taiwan -- Taiwan's Foguang Shan Monastery is to join China in hosting the latter’s second World Buddhist Forum to be held in both China and Taiwan, reported the DPA news agency Mar 3.

Some 1,200 monks and experts from 54 countries and regions will discuss world peace and deliver more that 100 theses during the conference, the report cited Taiwan’s China Times newspaper as saying.

The first part of the forum will be held Mar 28-30 in Wuxi, in China's Jiangsu Province, while the second part, from Mar 30-Apr 2, will be held to Taiwan.

The report expected Tibetans and Tibet supporters to protest during the forum’s Taiwan meeting.

China held its first World Buddhism Forum in Apr 2008 and tried to use the occasion to promote the then 16-year-old Panchen Lama selected by it, as opposed to that recognized by the Dalai Lama, without success.
