“This is the first time a World Buddhist Sangha Youth conference has been held in a Western Christian country and it is most fitting this gathering of peace-minded people is here in Tasmania, a state of great beauty and tranquillity.”
Ms Singh said the conference theme; unity, harmony and development, aligned with the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to social inclusion as critical to the creation of a kind, clever and connected Tasmania.
“The Tasmanian Government is working with community and business to help remove the barriers that prevent Tasmanians from connecting with and contributing to their communities,” Ms Singh said.
“Events such as this conference encourage unity, community connections, tolerance and lasting friendships.
“It is heartening to see so many passionate individuals come together to spread the important message of peace, harmony and goodwill.”
The conference is held today and tomorrow at the Baha’i Centre.
