Perth, Australia -- The Dalai Lama will fly into Perth on Tuesday at the start of an eight-city Australian tour.

Tour director Dr Alan Molloy said he expected the Dalai Lama to receive a warm welcome wherever he went on the 11-day visit.

"Having not been to Perth since 1992, we expect the WA Tibetan and Buddhist communities, together with the general population, to offer him a warm and colourful welcome," Dr Molloy said.

"The enthusiasm and excitement in WA has been mounting - something we all share."

The exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader will also visit Bendigo, Melbourne, Geelong, Canberra, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Sydney.
