"Sounds of the Sacred" music festival to be held in Topanga, California

Los Angeles, USA -- The Sounds of the Sacred, Songs of the Earth Festival will be held on Sunday, September 18 at the Topanga Community Center and Grounds from Noon to 10:00 PM.  The all-day festival will feature booths and activities lead by educators, artists, physicians, health practitioners and others extolling artistic expression, cross-cultural awareness, and an appreciation for the benefits of creativity in one?s life. The event culminates with a spectacular concert of performances presenting the divers e traditions of sacred music from around the world.  The concert begins at 5:00 PM.

Among the performers scheduled to appear are:

Spanish Flamenco pianist Pedro Ricardo Miño; Tibetan 'Terton', 76 year old Kunzang Rinpoche and the Monks & Nuns of Zangdookpalri; Sufi ?Ney? Master, Omar Faruk Tekbilek & his Ensemble; The Hani Nasser Band,with Walfredo Reyes Jr., Armand Sabal-Lecco and Craig Eastman; composer, Richard Horowitz will perform a World Premiere of his ?tour de force? composition written especially for this event.

As a prelude to the all-day Festival, organizers are also presenting the Sounds of the Sacred Awards Gala on the evening of Wednesday, September 13.  The evening will recognize extraordinary spiritual, humanitarian and artistic contributions to society. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will receive the special Jewel of Light & Peace Award for his continued devotion to compassion, love and understanding among the brotherhood and sisterhood of mankind.  Honorees for the Spiritual Guide, Artistic Light , Humanitarian Jewel, and Lifetime Achievement Awards will be announced in the near future. 

The Sounds of the Sacred Festival and Award Gala are programs of the Living Wellness Foundation. Founded in 1997, the Foundation presents numerous, community-based programs throughout the year to help promote cross-cultural awareness, artistic expression and an appreciation for the benefits of creativity in one?s life.  The Topanga Canyon-based Foundation?s programs and forums incorporate sacred music, theater, film, art and literature to achieve these goals.  The Foundation also works with non -profit educational organizations, such as www.totalgoodness.org, which supports outreach for the Monks & Nuns of Zangdokpalri to finish their monastery and hospital in Assam, India.
