<< Excecutive committee of the The International Association of Buddhist Universities, meeting at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. Oct 5, 2015
The main theme for the two-day celebratory gathering for Buddhist religious leaders is "The Buddhist Path to World Peace". The opening day of the 13th UNDV, on 17 May 2016 will feature a short seminar on "Buddhist Education for Peace".
The final day of the conference will be on 18 May 2016, to be held at the United Nations Conference Center (Bangkok). The day's program will also feature a short seminar on "Buddhist Contributions to Environmental Responsibility for World Peace".
The decision of the International Council for the Day of Vesak to scale down the celebrations for 2016 is to ease the burden of the Thai government, which had generously sponsored the event in the past decade.
The 2016 UNDV edition will not have the usual academic conference, and will instead feature two, two-hour topical seminars which will be held on the main stage, along with the normal activities that are usually planned.
Attendance to next year's event is open to anyone wishing to participate.
Anyone wanting to attend the conference willl also need to pay for their own airfares. Food and lodging will be provided by the organisers.
