Webindia123.com, November 2, 2005

Bangkok, Thailand -- More than 3,000 Buddhist religious leaders from around the world are meeting here this week to discuss where the faith stands in an age of globalisation, information technology and terrorism.

Leaders from 23 countries, including India, representing the two major Buddhist sects -- the Theravada (Hinayana) and the Mahayana -- are expected to exchange views on increasing mutual understanding and strenghtening cooperation.

The fourth world Buddhist summit, hosted by the Mahamakut Buddhist University here, opened yesterday and will continue till November 5.
