ASTANA, Kazakhstan -- Supreme Patriarch of Thailand H.H. Somdet Phra Buddhacharaya highly estimates the contribution of Kazakhstan into peace by means of organising the dialogue between religions and civilisations. He made such statement Saturday in a Thai Buddhist temple at a meeting with Bakhytbek Shabarbayev, charge d'affaires of RK in Thailand.

"Kazakhstan is a unique example of a peaceful coexistence of many religions that must be imitated," - he said.

Representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups live in Kazakhstan, two thirds are practising Islam, but at the same time 40 different creeds are represented there.

The Supreme Patriarch of Thailand was very interested in an invitation to participate in the II Congress of Leaders of World Religions in September, 2006, in Astana.

According to H.H. Somdet Phra Buddhacharaya the forthcoming forum will give spiritual leaders of the whole world an opportunity to discuss the role of religion in peace and security.
