Mahamakut Buddhist University in brainstroming session on Buddism as Thailand's national religion

Bangkok, Thailand -- Mahamakut Buddhist University, together with the Public Organization Network for the Nation, Religion and Monarchy, organized an academic seminar on "Buddhism as a National Religion for the Constitution (of Thailand)". The Buddhism Promotion Association of Thailand Secretary, the venerable Pra-Dhepdilok, chaired the opening of this seminar.

The primary focus of the seminar was to discuss Buddhism as Thailand's national religion.

The discussion included the provision of the current Constitution as His Majesty the King is Buddhist and the Prime Patron of Buddhism. Next is the Buddhism Protection Act, and it shall be addressed in the new constitution since Buddhists academic representatives are members of drafts Constitution.

The estimated one million people of monks, novices and Buddhists expressed their intentions to the Government and National Legislative Assembly.
