Sanam Luang crowded with Buddhists

The Bangkok Post, Feb 9, 2009

Bangkok, Thailand -- Many Buddhists on Monday travelled to Sanam Luang to give food offerings to monks and make merit on the occasion of Makha Bucha Day.

Activities to promote Buddhism were organised in Sanam Luang since last Wednesday, and some of them included candle light processions, group prayers and plays about dharma.

On Monday morning, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Mr Taweesak Dechdecho presided over the ceremony of making merit and giving food offerings to 83 Buddhist monks in Sanam Luang.

This event was held for Their Majesties the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family.
